Every year on November 11th, we are fortunate and honoured to have a Community Remembrance Day Service with participation from the Lucan Legion Branch 540, the Township of Lucan Biddulph, St. Patrick’s Catholic School, Wilberforce Public School and many members of our community. This service allows us to come together in remembrance and also acknowledging the courage and sacrifice of those who served their country and acknowledge our responsibility to work for the peace they fought hard to achieve.
This year because of COVID-19, we are required to adapt our plans to ensure the health and safety of our community. The local schools will still be commemorating Remembrance Day in their own ways designed to honour all veterans.
The Legion will be holding a service at Lucan Cenotaph at 11am and this will be streamed live on the Township’s Facebook Page as only those laying wreaths will be in attendance.
Thank you for your understanding and our hope is that we will be able to have an in-person school-wide and Community Commemoration next year again.
We would like to encourage our community to show our appreciation by decorating our homes/windows/lawns in special ways to show our gratitude. Another suggestion is to continue with the rock painting messages around the community with painted poppies on them.
Thank you everyone for their continued support of our Lucan Legion by purchasing a poppy and we hope you join us live at 11am on November 11th or revisit the video later in the day with family.
