Parks and Recreation for Lucan Biddulph is the heart of the community, and serves as a venue for sports games, events, socials, weddings and community gatherings. The main facility is the Community Centre and attached Arena, which was built in 1976.
Lucan is home to many youth and adult sports organizations, such as Lucan Minor Hockey, Lucan Minor Soccer, Lucan Minor Baseball and the Lucan Skating Club. In addition, many community events take place at the Community Centre and surrounding fields. Facility staff works in conjunction with other local community groups to bring events such as the Lucan Lions Fish Fry, St. Patrick’s Day Celebration and the Lucan Optimists’ Free Skates. The Community Centre also hosts events such as the Lucan Christmas Craft Show and Canada Day festivities.
The Township of Lucan Biddulph parks and recreation department offers facilities such as the community centre/ gymnasium, arena, 5 baseball diamonds, 5 soccer fields, a tennis court, pool, picnic shelters, playgrounds, splash pad, skateboard park and dog park.
Lucan Biddulph’s parks and recreation facilities and services play an important role in our everyday lives. They offer a diverse range of leisure opportunities that appeal to residents and visitors, and help to keep our community active and engaged. Broadly speaking, these leisure opportunities include:
- The Lucan Community Memorial Centre
- Parks, playgrounds, sports fields, and park amenities
- Elm Street Splash Pad
- Programs, camps, and special events
- Trails and pathways
To ensure that these opportunities continue to serve Lucan Biddulph’s growing population, the Township undertook a Parks and Recreation Master Plan to guide the development of related facilities, services, and programs over the next twelve years. The living document that was created from this process will provide Lucan Biddulph with strategic direction on community facility needs, effective ways to deliver services and programs, and more.
