Township of Lucan Biddulph Announces 

2026 Mayor’s Honour Roll Recipients

Lucan, ON – January 9th, 2026 – The Township of Lucan Biddulph is pleased to recognize the 2026 Mayor’s Honour Roll Recipients, honouring outstanding individuals and groups who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to our community. Their contributions reflect the values, pride, and volunteer spirit that make Lucan Biddulph a great place to live. 

Youth Award:  Charlotte Hawkins

Charlotte is being recognized for the work she is doing with her charitable organization Senior Smiles.  The purpose of this mission to uplift and support seniors in our communities by organizing events, visits, gifts and encouraging social interactions to seniors in the community.  She is also actively involved in the Best Buddy program at Medway High School.

Sport & Recreation Award:  Shawn Smith

Shawn is being honoured for his commitment to sporting programs in Lucan Biddulph.  A familiar face as Coach and Trainer with Lucan Minor Hockey, Shawn has also committed countless hours to the Men’s Recreational Hockey Club as President. 

Art & Culture Award: Don Froats

Don Froats has spent a lifetime contributing to Lucan Biddulph. Over the years, he has volunteered with Lucan Minor Hockey, the VON, Lucan United Church and Villages United. He has also been committed volunteer with the Lucan & Area Heritage Society.  At 92 he still contributes by maintaining the grounds around the museum. You will also see him still collecting trash along our roadways!

Good Neighbour Award: Paul & Pam Hodgins

Paul and Pam are being recognized for developing and maintaining Bud’s Place and the Hodgin’s Trail in Clandeboye.  This year round trail offers residents (free of charge) a place to hike, rest and enjoy a quiet piece of trails along Hwy 4.

Volunteerism & Citizenship Award: Carol Sloetjes

Carol has well over 30 years of volunteerism in Lucan Biddulph.  From serving with Lucan Minor Soccer, Lucan Christian Revival Boys and Girls Club and Lucan Girl Guides.  Carol has found ways to contribute to our youth, being a role model of kindness and good citizenship. 

Community Engagement Award: Lucan Library

Under Leigh Robinson’s leadership, the Library is being recognized for the establishment of the Community Pantry.  This pantry is stocked with donations such as canned goods, snack, diapers and formula that is available free to anyone who has a need.  The Lucan Library has been a leader when it comes to community support and dignity.  The Pantry was the first of its kind in the Middlesex County Library system, but now because of the success and need of the program, pantries are available in a number of branches across the system
