Municipal Elections Act, 1996 (s. 32)

Nomination Period: May 1, 2026, through to August 21, 2026

for the 2026 Municipal Election on October 26, 2026.

 

Candidates interested in running for local offices (municipality and school board) in the 2026 Municipal Election must file a nomination form with the municipal clerk. Nominations will be accepted during the following dates and times at the Township Office, 270 Main Street, Lucan:

  • May 1, 2026, through to August 20, 2026, during regular business hours
    • (Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., excluding statutory holidays)
  • August 21, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m
    • Those wishing to submit a nomination are encouraged to set up an appointment ahead of time to ensure staff availability.

Township of Lucan Biddulph Council

  • Mayor (One Position)
  • Deputy Mayor (One Position)
  • Councillor Ward 1 (One Position)
  • Councillor Ward 2 (One Position)
  • Councillor Ward 3 (One Position)

School Boards Trustee

  • English Public School Board (Two Positions)
  • English Separate School Board (One Position)
  • French Public School Board (One Position)
  • French Separate School Board  (One Position)

All nomination forms must be submitted IN PERSON by the Candidate or the Candidate’s Agent during regular office hours at the Township Office, accompanied by the prescribed nomination filing fee of $100.00 per office/school board or $200.00 for the office of Mayor, payable by debit, credit card, cash, certified cheque, or money order. All nominations are required to be endorsed by at least 25 persons eligible to vote at the time the endorsement is signed.

Electors will have the option to vote online or by telephone.

  • Internet & Telephone Voting: Electors will be able to cast a ballot anytime, anywhere from:
    • October 19, 2026, at 8:30a.m. through to October 26, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.
  • Voting Help Centre Hours at the Township Office:
    • October 19 to October 23 8:30am-4:30pm
      • October 21 8:30am-8:00pm
        • October 24 10:00am-3:00pm
        • October 26 8:30am-8:00pm
