Lucan Sanitary Master Plan
NOTICE OF STUDY COMMENCEMENT
Project Information: The Township of Lucan Biddulph is undertaking a Sanitary Master Plan to identify strategies to provide sanitary sewage collection services to the new growth areas within the community of Lucan. Through Official Plan Amendment 10 (OPA 10), 55 ha of future development lands are now within Lucan (see map below). These additional lands border the existing community to the northeast, north, west and southwest.
Through the Master Plan process, we will identify current constraints within the sanitary collection system and additional infrastructure required to service all new lands within OPA 10. It is anticipated that recommendations may include replacing existing infrastructure with larger works in certain locations, as well as construction of new sewer, sanitary pumping and force main infrastructure.
Master Plan Process: The Lucan Sanitary Master Plan is being conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) document, dated October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011, 2015, 2023 and 2024, under the Environmental Assessment Act, using Approach 2.
This Master Plan will incorporate Phases 1 & 2 of the MCEA process (identification of the problem or opportunity, and evaluation of alternative solutions) and includes consultation with the general public, community partners, government review agencies and Indigenous communities.
Public Involvement: Public consultation is a key component of this study and there will be several opportunities for public input and involvement. For the initial phase of the program, public input into the planning of this study will be accepted until August 25, 2026.
