Benn Drain 2026

If your property is one of the properties that benefits from the Benn Municipal Drain and you have received the Notice of Preliminary Meeting that was mailed out, it is because the Township is beginning a preliminary review of the drain and would like to hear from property owners about any drainage concerns or potential improvements.
WHAT IS A MUNICIPAL DRAIN: A municipal drain is a shared drainage system that carries excess water away from properties and land. Municipal drains can include ditches, pipes, culverts, or a combination of these and are established under the Drainage Act. They are maintained by the municipality for the benefit of the properties that rely on the drainage system. The Benn Municipal Drain is located within the Village of Lucan and provides drainage for a number of residential properties.
Preliminary Meeting – Benn Municipal Drain
The Township has received a request to investigate potential maintenance, repairs, or improvements to the Benn Municipal Drain. A map has been provided; the shaded areas indicate the potential properties impacted.
The Township has appointed Spriet Associates as the drainage engineer. Spriet Associates will work with the Township and affected property owners to identify any concerns with the existing drain and determine what work, if any, may be needed.
This is a preliminary meeting. No specific work has been decided at this time. The purpose of the meeting is to provide information, hear from property owners, and identify any areas of concern or potential improvements that should be considered.
You are not required to attend the meeting. However, property owners are encouraged to attend if they have experienced drainage concerns or would like to provide information or feedback regarding the Benn Municipal Drain.
